(Bloomberg) -- Brazil's main stock index rose for a
second day. Gains were led by mining company Cia. Vale do Rio
Doce, which is expected to report higher second-quarter earnings.
The Bovespa Index of the most-traded stocks on the Sao Paulo
exchange gained 704.46, or 1.3 percent, to 55,277.07 as of 9:30
a.m. New York time.
